The Look Of You

"You're so skinny!"
They say with disdain,
as they shrug their nose
and critique my frame.
They think it's a blessing,
but it's always a curse.
Judging by appearance
hurts often the worst.
"You try to outdress us!"
They say to my face.
But I'm not competing
and this isn't a race.
They act like I'm wrong
because of my look.
They don't see my heart
or how it's been shook.
Many won't accept me.
I've face that hard fact.
If they don't love themselves
they'll always attack.
I'm a soul in a body.
Despite all this skin.
It's sad they cannot notice
The spaces within.
So silence the judgements
and don't shove them on me.
I'm just a soul in a body
that they refuse to see.
